What Fair Business Practices are?

 

The code of Fair Business Practices shall, inter alia, include the following :

 

(i)                 Charging only fair and reasonable prices and taking all possible steps to ensure that the maximum prices charged to the customer, are either clearly marked on the product or its packaging, or are otherwise available for verification by the customer.

(ii)               Taking every possible step to ensure that the dealers and or agents appointed by the nominee do not charge prices higher than those fixed.

 

(iii)              Not withholding or suppressing the stocks of goods for hoarding and/or     profiteering during a period of scarcity.

 

(iv)             Not producing or trading in spurious goods or goods of sub-standard quality.

 

(v)              Not adulterating the goods.

 

(vi)             Not publishing misleading advertisements.

 

(vii)           Invoicing goods exported or imported at their correct prices.

 

(viii)          Maintaining accuracy in weights and measures of goods offered for sale.

 

(ix)             Not dealing knowingly in smuggled goods..

 

(x)               Providing after-scales-service where necessary or possible

 

(xi)             Ensuring that the product-warranty is offered in simple, unambiguous and concise language and highlights the rights of the consumer under it.

 

(xii)            Honoring the fundamental rights of the consumers, viz. Right to safety, Right to choose, Right to information and Right to be heard.

 

(xiii)          Discharging social responsibilities and the responsibility to protect the environment and the infrastructure.
